This Thanksgiving, I am thankful that Dr. Anthony Fauci is finally leaving his position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a job he has held for nearly four decades.
In all honesty, I knew very little about Dr. Fauci before the COVID-19 pandemic, other than the fact that he is the highest-paid employee in the entire federal government. Yes, Dr. Fauci earns more money than the president of the United States, as difficult to believe as that may be.
But, this all changed in early 2020, when Dr. Fauci became a worldwide figure as the undisputed leader of America’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Make no mistake, Dr. Fauci’s tenure as the pandemic guru has been disastrous. During his reign of terror, the U.S. economy has been turned upside-down, millions of jobs have been lost, our children have become dumber and unhealthier (mentally and physically), families have been torn apart, drug use has skyrocketed, suicides have increased, along with a host of other problems that will take years, if not decades, to overcome.
Although it would be unfair to blame Fauci for every one of these problems, it stands to reason that his fearmongering, blatant lies, incredible flip-flops, and massive ego (never forget, Dr. Fauci is the embodiment of science) are at least partially responsible for the massive mess the United States is in after following Fauci’s orders.
What’s more, over the past two years, Fauci has arguably been the world’s foremost super spreader of COVID-19 misinformation.
For instance, at the outset of the pandemic, Fauci told the American people, “Right now in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks. … There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”
Then, for reasons unbeknown to we the people, Fauci changed his tune overnight, and became an adamant advocate of universal masking (even outdoors), mask mandates, and worst of all, mask mandates for children in school.
Fauci was also a leading proponent of school shutdowns, even though all of the data in the early months of the pandemic showed that children were practically immune to COVID-19 and that they were not vectors of transmission.
On top of that, Fauci also came out in favor of non-sensical statewide lockdowns, whereby big box retailers were allowed to remain open for business while hundreds of thousands of small businesses were forced to close because they lacked the political clout to influence the likes of Fauci and friends.
While all of these “mistakes” were more than enough to cause one to question Fauci’s infinite wisdom about how to best navigate the early days of the pandemic, his coup de grace occurred once the so-called vaccines became available in late 2020.
As soon as the first batch of experimental vaccines rolled off of the assembly lines, Fauci went all-in on the notion that the vaccines were the panacea of the pandemic. Early and often, Fauci berated anyone who dared to question the efficacy of an experimental vaccine that was fast-tracked without due diligence.
Yet, as the months passed, and evidence appeared that the miracle vaccines were not living up to the hype, Fauci doubled-down and insisted that COVID-19 had strictly morphed into an “outbreak among the unvaccinated.”
In reality, this was not the case whatsoever. We now know for a fact that the vaccines do not stop transmission of COVID-19. And, we also know unequivocally that the vaccines have had harmful side effects, especially among children.
What’s most infuriating is that despite all of this, Fauci remained obstinate in his final press conference, defending his pitiful record with lies and half-truths.
Consider this closing statement from Fauci at his farewell press briefing:
“The people who have correct information, who take science seriously, who don’t have strange, way-out theories about things but who base what they say on evidence and data need to speak up more, because the other side that just keeps putting out misinformation and disinformation seems to be tireless in that effort. And it’s going to be very difficult.”
I agree, Dr. Fauci. Such is why I will continue to cite undisputable data that passes the test of scientific rigor that completely dispels the misinformation and disinformation that is perpetuated by you and your corrupt cronies.
Indeed, it will be very difficult. But, as George Washington once said, “Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light.”
