Loud Denials by Dems and Media Today About Abortion-to-Birth Are Unraveled by Their Words and Policies

It has been a day of loud and unbalanced reactions to the Republican Presidential Debate – as expected. Whenever the conservative agenda is presented in a public forum, the press needs to come out with its corrective measures, something they reserve for only one party. Democrats, meanwhile, get reactions of a supportive nature, something that is curiously on display today regarding one particular item on one specific issue: abortion on demand.

What has the left and the press (redundancy noted) all in a lather are the comments from the debate that Democrats push for abortion up to the day of birth. This has long been a venal position from the Democrats, one that ramped up when the Dobbs decision overturned Roe vs. Wade and kicked the abortion issue back to the states last year. Yet today, there has been a flock of pundits rushing out to proclaim that this is simply a lie being promoted by the GOP.

We have a variety of leftists, from journalists, previous Democrat officials, disgraced former politicians, paid social media influencers, and others, all echoing the same desperate plea – no one wants abortion up to birth! Washington Post’s fact-checker Glenn Kessler attempted to deflect from Ron DeSantis’ statement that Democrats push this policy, and he does so in a revealingly non-committal way.

This is a common Republican talking point — that Democrats support nationwide abortion-on-demand up until the moment of birth. The implication is that late-term abortions are common — and that they are routinely accepted by Democrats.

Kessler goes on to cite the statistics showing how few abortions fit this criteria. He does nothing to refute that Democrats push for unlimited access to abortion at all times. Only one small problem exists to upset this narrative: all of the evidence to the contrary.

John Fetterman was asked about third-trimester abortions and supported it. New York Mayor Eric Adams also is fine with the concept. Most people recall Ralph Northam saying on the air during a radio interview how he supports keeping a baby comfortable after delivery as the parents deliberate whether to keep it or let the newborn simply expire.

Seven states and the District of Columbia have no-limit laws passed on the issue of abortion. CaliforniaColorado, New Mexico, and others have signed laws making late-term abortions legal. In describing her state’s legislation, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham was on with Margaret Brennan this past April, and when asked pointedly about what the law entailed, she did not blink about this reality.

MARGARET BRENNAN: What so, nail down for me then how do you define because up till now my understanding is there wasn’t a limit on when in pregnancy, a woman could receive an abortion? Have you set any limit on that?
GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM: There are no limits. So for us-
MARGARET BRENNAN: That’s very controversial.
GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM: It can be I mean, look, it’s the 1% of all abortions. And that’s still a sizable number of abortions worldwide.

Al Franken used a vulgar slur to impugn Governor Ron DeSantis, saying he was lying about this topic – while Franken’s own state of Minnesota has one of the most permissive abortion laws. The winner of “most permissive” legislation brought forward might have to go to Maryland. In that state, the language they drew up regarding abortion gets rather disturbing. Along with allowing abortions to be performed by non-doctors and providing millions of dollars for abortion procedure training, there was this passage in the bill:

Nothing in this section shall be construed to confer personhood or any rights on the fetus. This section may not be construed to authorize any form of investigation or penalty for a person: (1) Terminating or attempting to terminate the person’s own pregnancy; or (2) Experiencing a miscarriage, perinatal death related to a failure to act, or stillbirth.

Perhaps the most glaring example refuting this bold claim that the GOP is lying about the Democratic Party position comes from current “journalist” and former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

Psaki is the perfect vessel to carry all of the problems with today’s leftist narrative as she typifies perfectly the positions and problems on this topic. To start, there is Psaki pushing for the very legislation that would allow for abortion without restrictions. It was in March of last year when Congress was pushing the Women’s Health Protection Act, and Psaki is name-checked in this White House transcript of the administration supporting this federal bill to be passed.

This was the bill that would have removed all restrictions on abortion access at the federal level, codifying the practice of late-term abortion availability. It was voted for by nearly all Democrats in both chambers.

It becomes rather remarkable that these are the same voices who, just a year ago, in the tumult of the Dobbs decision, were loud and proud about their stance on this issue. Yet today, when Republicans dare point out the position of Democrats and accurately repeat their own words, we hear a cry going out that this is a “LIE” from the GOP and that no one wants abortions in the third trimester.

Yet two things will never be voiced by these same voices: They will not admit to supporting this in the past, and they will not tell you in what time frame they would limit abortion access. They are also shown to be adept at terminating the truth.
