Hunter Biden must be getting desperate.
His legal team is arguing that somehow the prosecution was due to “incessant, improper, and partisan pressure.”
That’s hilarious given that the allegations are that the opposite is true, that according to whistleblowers, Hunter’s case wasn’t properly investigated, and that delving into areas that might have touched Joe Biden or other members of the Biden family, or questioning them was stopped.
Hunter’s legal team has requested a subpoena for former President Donald Trump and former Attorney General Bill Barr. But there are a few big problems with the request for the subpoenas.
The response filed by Special Counsel David Weiss is perfect.
Special Counsel David Weiss files a scathing rejection of Hunter Biden’s request to subpoena Donald Trump and Bill Barr to prove he is being unfairly prosecuted on gun charges.

“Not only does defendant’s motion fail to identify any actual evidence of bias, vindictiveness, or discriminatory intent on the Special Counsel’s part, his arguments ignore an inconvenient truth: No charges were brought against defendant during the prior administration when the subpoena recipients actually held office in the Executive Branch,” Weiss wrote.
“Instead, every charge in this matter was or will be brought during the current administration—one in which defendant’s father, Joseph R. Biden, is the President of the United States and Merrick B. Garland is the Attorney General that was appointed by President Biden and who personally appointed the Special Counsel. Defendant has not shown, nor can he, how external statements by political opponents of President Biden improperly pressured him, his Attorney General, or the Special Counsel to pursue charges against the President’s son,” the filing continues.
Translation: you guys have nothing and you’re truly hard up. And the irony of arguing this when the charges began under your father is too much.
If Hunter’s team isn’t even laying out any evidence of bias, it’s hard to see how any subpoena should be approved. It also looks like a fishing expedition to find anything they can to help their case. And it’s not a good look when it involves the chief political opponent of Hunter’s father in the election. The problem is that Hunter is in a difficult situation and he can’t skate out of it this way. He may finally have to answer on the charges after his attempt to get a plea deal fell apart.
There is one final out if he gets convicted: that his father pardons him before he goes out the door. But that has a potential political cost for the American people who would not be big fans of such a move. That would likely cost Joe Biden heavily with voters. Joe Biden already is losing so many voters from so many quarters, including the “Abandon Biden” Muslim leader group who are encouraging Muslims not to vote for Biden in critical swing states like Michigan. Biden can’t afford to lose anyone else, or he will be in deep trouble in 2024.
