September 11th, 2024 brought about another day of remembrance for those who lost their lives over two decades ago to radical Islamic terrorism. Ceremonies were held at the sites of the attacks, with past and current presidents paying their respects at Ground Zero in New York City.
Donald Trump stood alongside Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, with the latter grinning like a Cheshire cat almost the entire time at what was supposed to be a solemn affair.
As I mentioned earlier, though, it’s 2024, and that means something incredibly wild had to be in the cards. After leaving Ground Zero, Biden set out for Shanksville, PA, to attend an event at the Flight 93 memorial. Sometimes before or after (I’m not sure exactly when), he found himself in front of firefighters and their families. Then this happened.
There are two possibilities here. The easy conclusion to jump to is that the president’s escalating senility got the best of him, and he didn’t realize what he was putting on. Perhaps one of the firefighters was trolling him, and Biden took the bait.

I don’t think that’s what happened here, though. Watching the video and Biden’s reaction, I think he knew what the hat said when he put it on. Perhaps he was just being a good sport given the other option was angrily refusing. If that’s the case, this may be the most likable thing Biden has ever done.
Still, it’s odd to see the current President of the United States throw on a hat emblazoned with the name of a man we’ve all been assured is a “threat to democracy.” Not only that, Trump is supposedly so dangerous that he must be thrown in prison for the final years of his life. That’s what Democrats tell us, right? That’s what Biden himself has told us. With that context, it’s not quite so “cute” anymore to see the president put on a Trump hat and smile for the cameras. Does he believe what he says or not?
Past that, there’s one more angle here to think about. Biden sure is being carefree with the optics given his vice president is locked into a toss-up race with someone Democrats compare to Hitler. I’d guess his handlers have just given up at this point (and who could blame them), but Biden himself likely knows what he’s doing. He’s senile, but he’s not that senile, and I think there’s still a part of him that would like to see Kamala Harris lose so he can say “I told you so” to every single Democrat who forced him out of the race. Let’s hope he gets that chance.
