It’s no secret that Washington, D.C., is a place that occupies its own bubble. It’s a separate world of up is down and down is up, and trying to convince people that what they see and hear is not really what they are seeing and hearing. It takes a certain kind of person to survive in a place like that — feel free to insert your own definition of what that might be. No one will say that politics is an honest business. But in the past four years, we have seen the Biden administration take that concept to a whole other level.
Recently, Fox News Digital conducted a poll of sorts. They contacted several Biden administration Cabinet members and asked an interesting question: Did they believe that President Joe Biden was fit to serve, and did they stand by statements they had made in the past about their confidence in his abilities? The answers are what you might expect…mind-numbing.

In a statement made in September, Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas said he had “full confidence” in Biden’s ability to do the job. He added:
“As I’ve said before, I come fully prepared for my meetings with President Biden, knowing his questions will be detail-oriented, probing, and exacting. In our exchanges, the President always draws upon our prior conversations and past events in analyzing the issues and reaching his conclusions.”
On Monday, DHS stated that Mayorkas stands by those comments.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said that Biden was “one of the most accomplished presidents in American history and continues to effectively lead our country with a steady hand.” A spokesman said Raimondo also stood by her comments.
It wasn’t just Cabinet members claiming Biden has been at the top of his game. Sabrina Singh is the deputy press secretary at the Pentagon. She said in September:
“As Secretary Austin has said before, he has watched President Biden make tough national security decisions and seen his commitment to keeping our troops safe – he has nothing but total confidence in our Commander-in-Chief.”
Singh said the Defense Department stands by the comments.
Questions about Biden’s mental acuity surfaced early on in his presidency. There were little things that the media dutifully ignored, like referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as “President Harris,” calling Harris the “president-elect,” and not remembering Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s name, saying, “My . . . the guy who runs that outfit over there.” In March of 2021, Biden fell three times while going up the stairs of Air Force One. The serious questions came after the presidential debate in June between Donald Trump and Biden. Just 10 minutes in, Biden lost his train of thought, slurred his words, and his answers to questions trailed off. It was at that point that calls for Biden to drop out of the race began.
In September, Biden turned the reins of a Cabinet meeting over to First Lady Jill Biden. That didn’t strike any of these Cabinet secretaries or other department officials as the least bit odd? Of course, it did. But power in Washington is addictive, so much so that no one closest to an obviously mentally impaired president will speak up. And remember, Mayorkas told us the border was closed, Raimondo had no knowledge of a downward jobs revision in August, and Lloyd Austin’s main concern was DEI in the military.
What these officials had to know gets even worse when you consider, as my colleague Mike Miller recently reported, the latest video from James O’Keefe, in which a Security Council official admits that Biden’s mental condition is far worse than is publicly known. Henry Appel admits that “[Biden] can’t say a sentence.” He added, “We give all of the senior policymakers all of the secrets.”

But the theme of “Don’t believe your lyin’ eyes” rolls merrily along among Biden Cabinet officials. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra said that Biden “has done more as president for this country than any other president whom I have worked with since 1992.” He added, “Is he fit? He’s proving it.” You know the drill, an HHS spokesman says Becerra also stands by his comments, as did spokesmen for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Departments of Energy and Agriculture.
It’s a level of gaslighting rarely seen even in Washington. Once Joe Biden is gone, will anyone finally speak up because they think it’s “safe?”
