‘Only The Beginning’: Kash Patel Makes Explosive Comment on Merchan, the New FBI, and Ending Lawfare

New York Judge Juan Merchan made a big show last Friday of holding a sentencing hearing before President-elect Trump has his inauguration on Jan. 20, as RedState’s Susie Moore shared.

Twitchy’s Sam Janney wrote earlier on Sunday at our Townhall Media sister publication about part of Trump FBI director nominee, Kash Patel’s reaction, when asked about Trump’s conviction in the Manhattan business records fraud case–which many have long seen as blatant lawfare against a political opponent of the leftists/Democrat Party apparatus. While the clip is from May, it’s gone viral once again on social media.

Janney, referring to Patel, averred:

…[I] “can’t wait to see what happens when he’s officially in office.
Like, for example, his push to investigate Judge Merchan, his very openly anti-Trump daughter, and lawfare in general.

And hoo boy, she isn’t kidding. During an appearance on Fox News with host Trace Gallagher after the jury’s verdict, the man did not hold back when the host invited him to give his take.

Watch:

Patel didn’t leave it at that, though. Instead, he used that opportunity as an opening to make news on one of Trump’s priorities–making sure those who chose to commit lawfare are held accountable. That, according to Patel, will absolutely include Loren Merchan, the daughter of the New York judge. He said that he, along with partners in Congress, will issue subpoenas for Loren Merchan’s company, which made about $15M on the trial. That’s the thumbnail, but the entire clip is worth watching, since he gives even more details on the plans.

One X user who also shared the clip noted that the now-Trump nominee for Attorney General in the incoming administration, Pam Bondi, was also on the panel–and she was “listening closely” to Patel’s words.

This shows, I think, that the team members with which Trump intends to surround himself have already started to settle in with each other–a real bonus for things to start turning around quickly. We wrote a few days ago about Donald Trump making headway with allies Denmark and Greenland, on developing a more productive relationship with the United States.

And as my colleague Bob Hoge reminded everyone late Saturday night, the former and future president is rarin’ to go on Day One–on turning back the egregious error of Biden’s ways over the past four years:

Trump will be inaugurated as the nation’s 47th president on January 20, and reports indicate that he plans to arrive at the Oval Office armed with over 100 executive orders dealing with border and energy security.

Hoge continued with intriguing details on not only what Trump is saying about his plans, but what Senate Republicans are revealing about what he discussed with them in recent meetings.

And if he can continue on this pace with bringing Trump’s agenda items to fruition, people will keep repeating that catchphrase that someone coined in November: “Only accept Kash.” We’ll keep you posted.

Update 1/12/25: We have clarified that the Kash Patel video showed his reaction to the verdicts in May. We also noted that Trace Gallagher was the Fox News host. We regret the errors.
