The New York Times has virtually zero credibility left after years of veering ever more leftward. They proved again Thursday why thinking people know that they’re more a leftist propaganda machine than a serious journalistic endeavor by printing the names and photos of 45 members of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency team. Do you ever remember them doing this to the IRS? Merrick Garland’s corrupt Justice Department? I don’t recall that.
Although they do not make any direct threats, there’s certainly an argument to be made that it’s an implied one:
Not only is there no valid reason to post the names and pictures of these individuals, but the tone of The Times’ prose is so sneering, so condescending that it becomes clear why Americans are turning away from our supposed progressive betters in ever-increasing numbers. Their opening paragraph is dripping with derision [emphasis mine]:
The New York Times identified 45 people within the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, a group formed by Elon Musk that in a short few weeks has radically upended federal agencies. Few members have formal Washington experience. Many are software engineers. All seem to have a clear mandate: Shrink and disrupt the federal government.
What do you mean, “so-called” Department of Government Efficiency? That’s its name. Can you ever imagine them writing, “Officials at the so-called FBI…” Then they pile on the snide, saying, “All [DOGE employees] seem to have a clear mandate: Shrink and disrupt the federal government.” No, their mandate is to cut waste and fraud and try to trim the gargantuan deficit. Their mission is not to “disrupt” the federal government merely for their amusement.

DOGE chief Elon Musk was not amused, and nor should he be because he’s received numerous death threats (warning: implied profanity):
At the end of this bit of doxxing dressed as journalism, there’s a questionnaire so you too can give them dirt on the DOGE. “Do you have information about the individuals in or actions of DOGE staffers at specific federal agencies?” it asks.
It’s been pretty amazing to watch the left shriek and break into hysterics over the Trump administration’s efforts to root out the rot that exists in all too many of our government agencies. DOGE has uncovered mind-blowing examples of waste, especially at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where they discovered your taxpayer dollars are funding terrorists and paying for woke social justice projects all around the world.
The Times is allowed to print this information; they have broken no laws as far as I can tell. However, that doesn’t mean they should. It has all the look and feel of an obvious intimidation effort and nothing more. Perverse.
