His Sunday musings read like a RedState critique of the Democrat party. Former Obama and current CNN commentator Van Jones—he of “whitelash” fame—has woken up and smelled the coffee: the Democrat party is “screwed.”
Speaking on the leftist network Sunday, the divisive pundit had to tell the truth:
“Look, man, we’re screwed,” Jones said on “CNN Newsroom” Sunday. “I mean, Democrats don’t know what to do. This is a nightmare. You know, somebody like Donald Trump, we thought we’d at least have Hakeem Jeffries in the Speaker’s chair to hold him back if we didn‘t have Kamala in there to do the right thing.”
Yup, that about sums it up. When your message is all about dividing people, insulting regular Americans and degrading anyone who doesn’t agree with you, you’re going to lose—just as you did in November.

Jones had more to say on the disaster that has become his party:
“Listen, the Democratic Party is going through a massive set of internal crises. You have a party that got trapped two ways,” he said. “One, defending a broken status quo that nobody likes because they thought that Donald Trump was going to make it worse. But when you’re defending the status quo, you’re going to lose.”
Then, in the next section, he sounds like a conservative pundit, pointing out exactly why Democrats are turning off the electorate in record numbers:
“And then offending most people in the country, calling everybody sexist and racist and transphobic and every other name, and then saying, ‘please follow us.’ That’s not a good strategy, folks.
Defending a broken status quo and offending most of the country, turns out, is not as popular as my party thought it was going to be. And so it’s going to take a while for people to get it figured out,” Jones added.
“That’s not a good strategy, folks.” You got that right, Mr. Jones.
The Democrats are in total disarray, acting like children at the president’s speech to a joint session of Congress earlier in March and putting on pathetic demonstrations that reek of desperation. Have you ever seen anything less compelling than this chant by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), which my colleague Nick Arama wrote about?
The polls are crystal clear that a majority of Americans are no longer buying what the Democrats are selling:
The Democratic Party has largely struggled since Trump’s election in 2024. In a Quinnipiac University survey conducted during Trump’s first week in office, only 31% of respondents had a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party.
The party continued to face low approval ratings after Democratic Rep. Al Green caused controversy for shouting and interrupting President Donald Trump during his address to Congress on Tuesday. A CNN instant poll found that 80% of respondents thought Green’s behavior was inappropriate.
You will win what, exactly, Mr. Schumer? As Van Jones points out, with the way you’re going, the only thing you’re going to win is a whole lot of nothing.
President Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress has radical Democrats in panic mode, and their childish protests won’t stop all of the winning.
