CBS Faceplants Yet Again—Lesley Stahl Asks Freed Hamas Hostage Jaw-Dropping Question About His Captivity

Townhall Media

We have a saying around here: You can’t hate the media enough. That goes for the legacy/mainstream/corporate/corrupt press, not sites like RedState and other Townhall Media properties of course, because we bring you the truth.

CBS News’ “60 Minutes” has been one of the worst offenders in recent times, deceptively—favorably, of course—editing a Kamala Harris video leading up to the ’24 presidential elections and then in February arguing that there should be “boundaries” on free speech. What they mean of course is “boundaries” only on free speech that they don’t like.

If you thought they’d learned anything or couldn’t go any lower, you’d be wrong because on Sunday’s episode of “60 Minutes,” anchor Lesley Stahl posed a question to freed Hamas hostage Keith Siegel that was so jaw-dropping, so clueless, that you had to wonder if she was punking us. Maybe the terrorists were short on food, and that’s why they starved you, she posited to the recent captive who had endured months of physical and psychological torture:

Siegel was speaking about the horrors of his imprisonment when Stahl dropped her comment, which frankly seemed supportive of the savage terrorists (emphasis mine):

While Siegel discussed how his captors treated him, he stated that after his wife, Aviva, was released from captivity, Hamas became “very mean and very cruel and violent.”

“They were beating me and starving me,” Siegel said.

Stahl followed by asking, “Do you think they starved you because or they just didn’t have food?

Wow. I can’t believe Siegel kept his composure. What an insulting, gaslighting question. I would ask Ms. Stahl one thing: Have you ever seen a Hamas terrorist who looks like he’s starving? No, you haven’t, because they steal all the international aid and keep it (and eat it) themselves.

Siegel quickly set her straight:

Siegel denied that his torturers didn’t have enough food, recounting, “No, I think they starved me, and they would often eat in front of me and not offer me food.”
The former hostage and his wife were kidnapped from their kibbutz during Hamas’ terror attack in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Siegel spent 484 days in “unimaginable conditions” in Hamas captivity.

CNN’s lone voice of reason Scott Jennings said it’s time for an upgrade for Stahl’s position:

Bill Clinton accuser Juanita Broaddrick, who’s built up quite a following on social media, was even more succinct:

Even for “60 Minutes” and Lesley Stahl, this was pretty awful stuff. I guess you actually can hate the media just a little bit more.

Editor’s Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie.
