The Democratic Party and the far left (but I repeat myself) seem unable to win for losing lately. In Congress, the Republican members’ campaign war chests, driven by donations, are outstripping those of Democrats by a wide margin. And now, it turns out, a lot of the cash that the Democrats have to spend on campaigns may be coming from (gasp) questionable sources.
A major player in funding leftist campaigns is ActBlue – and ActBlue may be about to be dragged in front of a couple of key Congressional committees to be asked some very direct questions. Fox News has the scoop.
Three House committees are banding together to subpoena Democratic fundraising giant ActBlue on Tuesday, accusing the platform of having accepted “fraudulent or illegal” donations for left-wing candidates.
“In light of allegations that online fundraising platforms that serve as conduits for political donations have accepted fraudulent donations from domestic and foreign sources, the Committees are conducting oversight to inform potential legislative reforms,” House investigators’ letter to ActBlue read.
“To further our oversight and legislative reform efforts, on April 2, 2025, the Committees requested documents and communications related to internal misconduct and whistleblower retaliation at ActBlue. Although ActBlue initially provided documents voluntarily, it has since suspended its cooperation with the Committees. Therefore, the Committee on House Administration must resort to compulsory process to obtain the requested materials.”
What might ActBlue have to hide?
The three committees involved in the subpoena are the Committee on House Administration, chaired by Representative Bryan Steil (R-WI), the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Representative James Comer (R-KY), and the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH). The investigation has been going on since well before the 2024 election.
The committees have been jointly investigating ActBlue ever since first raising concerns about their donation practices in 2023.
At the time, Steil accused ActBlue of failing to properly account for private citizens’ security by not requiring a CVV number for credit card donations. That has since changed, however, and ActBlue does currently require that information.
His and other Republicans’ probe has since expanded to question whether ActBlue accepted donations from foreign actors.
ActBlue, after the 2024 election, also faced actual criminal charges in at least five states, due to allegations of campaign finance fraud.
ActBlue, the Democratic fundraising platform that has collected millions of dollars for Kamala Harris, is facing potential criminal charges in five states over allegations that it fraudulently exploited unwitting donors to get around campaign finance laws.
The GOP-led Committee on House Administration has been investigating claims that fraudulent donations are being laundered to ActBlue in the form of gift cards and prepaid credit cards.
Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) on Wednesday referred his committee’s findings of “potential criminal activity” to the Republican attorneys general of Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Texas and Virginia for further investigation.
Crime can pay, it seems, in the world of political campaign financing; but it won’t pay forever. Not this time.

ActBlue has until August 12th to reply to the subpoena.
