You can always count on the left, including those in the press, to be the most hypocritical people on the planet. That was illustrated again on Tuesday evening after a manic freak-out occurred due to a few breaches of decorum during Joe Biden’s lie-riddled State of the Union address.
Almost immediately after the president mercifully ended his speech, pundits took to the airwaves and social media to decry how awful it was for Republicans to heckle blatant lies about things like fentanyl overdoses and cuts to social security.
Here are a few examples to set the stage.
If you follow politics, you probably know where I’m going next. While these absolute hacks are acting as if Republican taunts are unprecedented, Nancy Pelosi infamously ripped up Donald Trump’s speech during the closing of the 2020 State of the Union. How was that received by the press?
Well, they absolutely loved it.
That’s not the only example, though. If it were, it’d still be extremely relevant given it was the Speaker of the House doing it and not just some backbencher, but Democrats have a long history of breaking decorum at State of the Union addresses. It’s a history they want you to forget.
Those are just some of the more recent occurrences that took place in 2018 and 2020 during the Trump administration. Democrats received glowing reviews for their outbursts, with endless friendly media framing justifying their actions.
Further, while those in the press would have you believe that Joe Wilson, who called Barack Obama a “liar” during a 2009 speech, started the downward spiral, that 1) wasn’t a State of the Union and 2) was not the first occurrence. Democrat heckling actually occurred during the 2005 State of the Union as well when George W. Bush was booed for making the completely truthful statement that social security is going to eventually become insolvent.
In summary, anyone complaining about “decorum” during Biden’s speech that didn’t decry the same thing in the past is a flaming hypocrite. Heck, Adam Kinzinger even suggested that Republicans should be censured. Naturally, he never once made that suggestion about Nancy Pelosi.
Once again, Democrats broke precedent and now want to complain when Republicans use it against them. Well, tough luck. CNN and the rest can clutch their pearls, but they are the ones who normalized this.
